The Indianapolis police department tweeted using the hashtag ‘#WeCanBreathe’ when responding to a post criticizing arrests made during protests related to the failure to indict the officer who executed an illegal chokehold on Garner, leading to his death.

“As far as I can tell, we are here today to beat up on Jonathan Gruber for stupid — I mean absolutely stupid — comments he made over the last few years,” he began, staring angrily at the hapless professor. “Let me be clear, I am extremely frustrated with Dr. Gruber’s statements,” Cummings continued. “They were irresponsibly, incredibly disrespectful, and did not reflect reality. A man who police say was carrying a knife has died after being shot by law enforcers in Hollywood, Los Angeles. He was taken to hospital but, did not recover from his injuries. A witness who took a video of the incident says the man was unarmed. 11Police say they were responding to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon on Friday night.
